Mission Statement
The DC Chapter is a field organization of the Morehouse College National Alumni Association and was incorporated under the
laws of the District of Columbia as a nonprofit corporation on December 10, 1998. The Chapter is organized exclusively to
promote the welfare of Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, and the Alumni Association. In furtherance of this goal, the
Chapter assists the Alumni Association to develop programs beneficial to Morehouse College. The Chapter works to establish
a network of close fellowship and cooperation among members of the Morehouse College family (alumni, students, parents of
students, friends, supporters and fans) residing in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Through this network the Chapter
endeavors to enhance the DC area's knowledge of the philosophy, programs, and activities of Morehouse College and of the accomplishments
of its students, faculty, and alumni, to sponsor fundraising activities for the benefit of the College, and to assist in the
recruitment of outstanding high school students in the area for admission to Morehouse College.
In connection with its fundraising activities, the Chapter has established the Caesar Hill Washington, D.C., Morehouse
Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund at Morehouse College. The Fund benefits Morehouse College juniors and seniors who come from
the Washington, DC, area. Such students may earn scholarships each year up to $2000. The Chapter also sponsors Morehouse
students to travel in foreign countries, assists students in various emergency situations and donates gifts of various types
to organizations at the College. The Chapter is a frequent winner of the Maynard Jackson Trophy which is awarded each earn
to the alumni chapter that contributes the greatest amount of money to Morehouse College.
